Overview

What MLS Import costs, which MLS it supports, and how to get your MLS Grid feed ready before you buy.

Two things to know up front, before anything else:

MLS Import brings your MLS’s live listings straight into Barbican, in the RESO standard, over the official RESO Web API. This page covers what to know before you buy and how to get your MLS Grid feed ready; the pages that follow cover getting the add-on and using it.

MLS Import is a paid add-on that runs on top of the free Barbican core, which stays free and fully functional without it. An active license is required to use MLS Import: connecting to your MLS, testing a connection, and importing all need one. Pricing and activation are on the Getting the add-on page.

This release connects to MLS Grid, and only MLS Grid. We’re stating that plainly so it’s never a surprise after purchase.

Why only MLS Grid (for now). MLS Grid has its own API contract that this version is built and tested against. For example, listing IDs carry the MLS’s originating-system prefix, and requests include MLS-Grid-specific parameters (like MlgCanView). Those specifics are baked into this release.

If your MLS isn’t on MLS Grid, ask us. Because Barbican imports in the RESO standard, supporting another RESO-compliant MLS feed is usually a modest change, not a rewrite. Email contact@barbicanwp.com with your MLS and what feed you have, and we’ll gladly look into adding it. Just reach out before buying so we can confirm the fit.

If you do have a choice of feed, MLS Grid is a strong one, and a natural match for Barbican, because it’s built on the same RESO standard Barbican speaks. In short, MLS Grid consolidates many MLSs behind one standardized data feed, one license agreement, and one compliance process, which lowers the licensing and compliance overhead for everyone involved:

  • Brokers work with one feed, one set of display rules, and one compliance process across participating MLSs.
  • MLSs share licensing and compliance overhead and keep control of approved vendors and their access.
  • Vendors integrate one standard license, one feed, and one compliance path instead of many.

MLS Grid maintains excellent step-by-step guides (with screenshots and video) for registering, subscribing, and licensing data. There’s no reason for us to duplicate them, so set your account up there, then come back with your access token.

Once your MLS Grid account is active and you have an access token in hand, continue to Getting the add-on.
